Egas & Francesinhas is a cozy café tucked into Penafiel’s Praceta Ten-Cel. José Pereira da Silva, offering a straightforward yet well-loved menu anchored by its signature francesinha. The space is compact and modern, making it a convenient spot to drop in for a comforting, no-fuss meal without a long wait.

This café feels like a local staple—familiar faces and neighborhood regulars often fill the small seating area, which lends a quiet but friendly vibe to your visit. The staff are attentive and welcoming, helping maintain a relaxed yet efficient rhythm during busier lunch hours.

The francesinha here stands out for its distinctive, slightly thicker and less abundant sauce compared to other typical places in the region. While not overly generous in portion size, it’s crafted with care and a bolder sauce flavor that some might find sweeter or more intense than other versions, making it a solid choice for those curious about variations on this classic dish. Other simple, satisfying bites like prego em pão and tosta mista round out the menu, paired easily with a cold beer—perfect for a casual midday or early evening meal.

Visitors looking for a quiet spot to enjoy a quick, hearty bite typically find this café hits the mark. Its comfortable, clean environment and steady local clientele suggest it’s best suited for those wanting a straightforward, authentic francesinha experience without the fuss of a larger restaurant setting. Early or mid-afternoon tends to be quieter, offering a chance to relax before the early evening crowd picks up.

For anyone passing through Penafiel or locals craving a traditional snack or light meal, Egas & Francesinhas delivers a dependable, approachable taste of the area’s café culture.

bsolutely spotless. Friendly staff and good food at reasonable prices. Didn't have to wait too long for food either. Quite a few local people so you know it is good.

Recomendo vivamente
